Eshinlokun, Not My Anointed Candidate - Tinubu
Specifically, Tinubu stated that former Secretary of the party in the state, Wasiu Sanni-Eshinlokun, is not his
annointed candidate.
“Eshinlokun is not my candidate. Those saying he is my candidate are wrong and not sincere. They are just dropping my name for selfish reason. I have not endorsed any candidate and I don’t have any intention of endorsing anyone,” the APC National Leader was reported to have informed some party leaders at a meeting in his Bourdillon road, Ikoyi residence.
Also at another political gathering in the APC National Leader’s home and the issue of the Speakership position was mentioned, Tinubu was categorical in his resolve that he has not endorsed any aspirant to the throne.
Even when the name of Eshinlokun was mentioned, he remained resolute that he has not endorsed him or anyone else.

Apart from this latest setback, Eshinlokun is also battling a court case hanging on his election as a lawmaker-elect.
As a former Secretary of the party, he signed the nomination form of his main rival for the Lagos Island State Constituency 1 for the APC ticket, Honourable Hakeem Masha, only for him to later resign and stand for nomination which was against constituional practice.
It was based on this that Masha protested and his protest as upheld and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) duly recognised him as the APC candidate.
Yet again, against party practice, Ehinlokun took the party to court and secured a ruling which recognise him as the party’s candidate.

Masha has no other option than to go to the Appeal Court which ordered that the status quo remains for the election, meaning Masha was the candidate, how Eshinlokun got his name to be recognised as the party’s candidate for the election remains a mystery as Masha’s counsel served INEC and Eshinlokun before the election on the Appeal Court ruling.
Therefore, matter of contempt of court is hanging on Eshinlokun and INEC already.
Yesterday, a socio-political group, United Action for Equity and Good Governance (UAEGG) called on the leadership of the Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that the principle of equity prevails in the eventual selection of the speaker of the state House of Assembly.
Also, a former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mrs Funmilayo Tejuoso had said that it is time to have a female Speaker in the state assembly.
