A landlord, Fatai Waidi, 44, who allegedly stole his tenant’s tricycle valued at N500,000 was on Wednesday arraigned in an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Waidi, who resides at No. 14, Ajenifuja St., Orile, Oshodi, Lagos, is being tried on a one count of stealing.
The prosecutor, Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 15 at his residence.
He said the accused stole the tricycle belonging to one Mr. Sunday Okeke, tenant to the accused..

Olatunde said the complainant bought the tricycle on hire purchase, while the accused refused him to park the tricycle in the compound.
“The accused refused to allow the complainant park his tricycle despite pleadings,” he said.
The prosecutor said after four months of parking the tricycle elsewhere, the accused told the complainant that he could now be parking the tricycle in the compound.
“The complainant brought his Keke Napep home and parked it in the presence of the accused and the accused locked the gate.
“The following morning, the tricycle was nowhere to be found, and the complainant rushed to the accused room to inform him about the disappearance of the tricycle.
“But on that day, the accused was also nowhere to be found.”
The offence, Olatunde said, contravened the provisions of Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 285 prescribes a three-year jail term as penalty for offenders.
The accused denied committing the offence, and the Magistrate, Mr. Akeem Fashola, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till June 8 for mention.
